  • This 3 guys are seems behaving same. Blocked svereal times from vandalism. They work for specific severeal subjects which is highly contreversial and show up at polls or discussions for a long time. Our community requested it.
  • This two guys also behave exactly the same and they are trying to write some unencylopedical titles, mostly like an advirtesement. When it comes to delete that, they vote together and making trouble on discussions. Again it is per request.

No log entries have been found for Kontratak and Trigan.
Eculum and 3210 shared the same IP (Turk Telekom ADSL) on May 16th only.

Ciao Torvindus. None of the four users ever shared the IP address with Mannen_av_börd nor shared any IP address with each other. No log entries found for JL_Man.

  • We now have a persistent issue, w:zh:User:Lmfivan keep posting an article about someone. The person he mentioned in zhwiki is never heard by anyone in zhwiki and cannot be verified that the person really exists. Some pictures used in the article is uploaded to wikicommons by Lmfivan but we found those pictures are copyvio and are not the person he mentioned in the article. His article is been voted to be deleted several times so zhwiki admins have protected the artcle, but Lmfivan created other articles with same contents many times. Again those articles are been voted to be deleted and protected. In the voting we found Lmfivan deleted some others' votes and created some zhwiki accounts to vote keep. Since we have no checkuser accounts in zhwiki, we wish someone here can help us to check the user ip and where he comes from. Here are some info about the user accounts, some are been blocked already:

检查后发现Cjpymson、Wai、Clchoicl来自同一IP,位于香港。OGLOC和Lmfivan并没有用这一IP登陆,但是都是从香港登陆wikipedia,为香港电讯盈科用户。Clchoicl也有通过香港电讯盈科的IP登陆。香港电讯盈科的IP应该是动态IP。Cjpymson、Wai、Clchoicl可以被认为是马甲,但是OGLOC和Lmfivan无法判断是否和Cjpymson、Wai、Clchoicl为同一人。 --Shizhao 06:03, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

  • sebastian@svwiki, because thas account is compromised by hackers, due to a password identical to user name. They also used that account to vandalism some pages on swedish wikipedia. I want the IP-adress by the LAST edit from that account. Cannot login to that account any longer. That account has been blocked too. Sebastiannielsen 21:01, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
  • I need the IP address of he:משתמש:מתקן שם מפגלות. He keeps creating new accounts and then vandelizes pages according to his creative name (the above translation is "political party name fixer" and here you can see him changing the names of political party articles). This user was of course banned ([1], at 11:53, 28 Feb 2006) and so were his other accounts (he:מתקן שם רה"מ, he:חותם בדפי שיחה). He apears every week or so, and we cant do anything about him. I intend to us the IP address to complain to his ISP company (they will warn him, and if he continues I will need the new IP so that they can close his connection).       • Thanks for your help. These two users, "גילגמש ההומו המזדיין" and "מתקן שם מפגלות" are creating chaos on the Hebrew Wikipedia by creating an account and vandalazing a few article and then creating a new account and so on. I need the IP of these two vandalists so that I can contact their Internet supplier company. I understand that this is the page to ask for these IPs. Does this help you?   • This new user w:tr:User:Termos (signed up May 31st 2006) has started editing a higly debated article "Fethullah Gulen" in a non-NPO of way causing it to be blocked 2 times for 3R rule. He recently was banned for 24h for his actions. His editing pattern resembles the controversial user w:tr:User:Rgulerdem who has been blocked several times on Wikipedia En and Wikipedia Tr. It'll be also very usefull to know if he is the same person with this 12.206.233.75 IP who has been blocked on Wikipedia En 1.

Although I assume good faith, I'm afraid that de:Benutzer:Sörensen is the reincarnation of the banned users de:Benutzer:Werner1973 und de:Benutzer:Stacy V.. These are in turn the Incarnations of the banned user de:Benutzer:PaulchenPanther an his sockpuppet-zoo including de:Benutzer:Nahkampfsöckchen an de:Benutzer:Big Chris089 before choosing a new Internet-provider. An anonm. vandal had accused Andsmo for being sock puppet of me (Klemen Kocjancic, admin on :sl). As both users we have agreed to check our IP's, to end this. For verification you could contact sl:Uporabnik:Ziga, bureacrat on :sl. Ziga also requested to check sl:Uporabnik:213.172.251.217 with other registered users on :sl, if that is possible. These are probably a reincarnation of User:Usenetpostsdotcom, blocked for repeated vandalism of User:Jason Gastrich and talk page under anon IPs. This is a spill-over vendetta from en.wikipedia (en:User:Usenetpostsdotcom). If any similar sock puppets are being used to circumvent the block they should probably be blocked. - Amgine / talk meta 16:29, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Please check the following users with the old ones to. One day after the user has been blocked, he came back pretending that he hasn't to do anything with the blocked users.

The best possibility to prove Partaner is a vandal would be this. Could you please look, if the same IP-adress has been logged for the following edits: 1-1 and 1-2; 2-1 and 2-2; 3-1 and 3-2;

Elian is still absent, and there is another, more important case: User Hansele is suspected to use sock puppets to support himself in deletion- and other discussions or to circumvent a temporary user block. Could you please compare the following accounts? I would not be surprised, if the IPs began with 84.160.

This is not a request for a traditional check, but rather a sort of meta-check, and I'm uncertain to where I ought to post this request.

User:Torvindus claims that someone from 84.72.93.48 has attempted several times to change his/her account password for Swedish Wikipedia. Since I seem to be the only user to use that address recently (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/84.72.93.48), I consider Torvindus' claim to be pure slander. Previous IP checks have revealed someone using Torvindus' IP address for creating and abusing an account using my name (Tournesol).

I would like to know if there is any way of finding out whether anybody has indeed tried to change Torvindus' password from that address in the last week, or if these claims are simple lies. If noone at meta.wikimedia.org would be technically able to carry out such a check, any information about who might be able to would be greatly appreciated.

Can you research this for me please and if necessary issue him with warning about repeated vandalism. I do not wish to do it myself, as I think the boy has too much time on his hands already, and worry about further repercussions.

Some users at Swedish Wikipedia

The Swedish user Torvindus insinuates that I am a puppetmaster of a few users. These users haven't edited since a long time, and our checkusers cannot see IP-adresses so far back. Thats why I wonder if you could check if Arminbaba, Tinsel and HelsinkiVampire has ever shared an IP-adress with eachother, or with me, sv:Användare:Mannen av börd. Thanks.

This vandal only account has been blocked for having put a nasty picture around. I think that a check to see if the same IP has been used in the past for vandalism or legitimate edits can be useful in order to apply a block. If an open proxy was used, it should be blocked, too. Several vandals in Finnish Wikibooks

Following the CheckUser policy "Where the user has been vandalising pages or persistently behaving in a disruptive way, data may be released to assist in the targeting of IP blocks, or to assist in the formulation of a complaint to relevant Internet Service Providers" I'd like to request CheckUser information of several users in Finnish Wikibooks.

  • Ulla Aminoff (note: his/her contributions page seems to be empty, because all pages where this user has vandalised has removed, check the Deletion log)

I'd like to know the responsible IP, if it is same between different accounts (I think it is) to complain his or her ISP and to ban that IP in Finnish Wikibooks. Thank you.

Users on Persian Wikipedia

I'm an administrator on persian wikipedia (fa:User:حسام). Please check if fa:User:Zandweb and fa:User:Sahand are sockpuppets. They are somehow cooperate in the same way of non-NPOV edits on this page and some other pages. User:Sahand started his/her contributions after user:Zandweb being blocked. Thank you. The IP is needed to help his university (University of Ontario Institute of Technology) to track him down because he is in direct violation of their fair use policies in addition to committing felony crime on Wikipedia. In case he has used some other ISP and is not from the University, then the IP will be needed anyway to complain to that ISP which surely will have it's own fair use policies. I am doing this as a way to avoid opening a full police investigation and to go through the appropriate service provider channels. I do not wish him the harm of a full blown police case even though he might deserve it. You can email me at jkorkala@gmail.com with the information.

In Wikipedia, administrators handled him by blocking his write access indefinitely after the threats kept on escalating. Information on the case may be found in wikipedia under his user name, my user name and the appropriate administrative boards.

Check user action across domains

Needed check for s:cs:User:Kiki and s:cs:User:Zacheus who vandalised the Czech Wikisource today. We guess they are sockpuppets of the arbitred and blocked account w:cs:Wikipedista:Z. He created some sockpuppets on the cs.wiki, like wc:s:User:Daniel Vocelka hw vandalised there in last days; his sockpuppet was checked positively by w:cs:User:Wikimol (checkuser). I request hereby to check whether the Users s:cs:User:Kiki and s:cs:User:Zacheus are identical with the User w:cs:Wikipedista:Z.
By the way, I assume, the it is the same m:User:Zacheus and w:en:User:Zacheus who tried to change blocked pages of w:en:User:V. Z. and m:Requests for comments/Cswiki issues 2 in last days several times. The user announced juristical steps against one of mine admin. As we are quite sure there will be other attacks next time, I will request the check user status for me on the Czech Wikisource, but for today we need somebody to help. Vandal on the breton wikipedia

A vandal (probably a bot) has been destroying hundreds of pages on the breton wikipedia, until hopefully a steward stopped it. Would it be possible to try to know who is this vandal? It might be someone active on the french wikipedia, since on the 19th of november there has been a cabal against bretons on the french wikipedia. But it might be only a coincidence. The information I have on the vandal is that it's user page is : Csefvrez. Two IP address seem to have taken part in this attack as well : 149.9.0.56 and 87.106.27.17 I'm aware that the vandal is probably a good informatician and that it will be impossible to know who he is, but who knows??? Elian as one of the local users with CU permission has rejected Alexander's (first) request before.
I was online and reachable all time/the relevant time span. All three CU users on de.wikipedia were not asked in this (second) case, nor was there any entry on our local page for CU requests.
There was obviously no need for any specific urgent action (as it would commonly be in cases of spam attacks or for a few other reasons).
Then he asked you for checking a slightly broader range of users … and you've checked 11 accounts and some IPs (including at least one account without a known connection to this case of sockpuppetry).
The pure IP data is well known, of course. The question is why you've published the according account names for specific IPs (it should have been enough to say "account A and B share one IP"; this is a more general issue).

There had been quite a discussion when the checkuser feature was introduced in de-wikipedia [25].Initially, there were concerns about the introduction of this new feature. There was a fear for privacy issues as a loss of protection of private data. One point, however convinced many (including me): The introduction of regular Checkuser-rights on de.wikipedia.org would make the whole process more transparent and make it possible to perform the checkuser-requests consistantly and with mutual checks. Checkuser on zh.wikipedia

Accounts request to check: zh:user:打倒中国 3 and zh:user:反中 5

Reason: There is a continuous vandalism case for zh.wikipedia. A user continue registering new accounts and vandal various pages: Blanking pages and adding the words “打倒中国”(means “overthrown Chinese government”), “中華人民共和國是非常笨的国家”(means “China is a very stupid country” )etc.

“The user” total registered at least 15 sockpuppets and each involved in vandalism. (The similar characteristics of the vandal contents are the proof to determine the sockpuppets are from same person). The two accounts request to check are the newest sockpuppets within last 7 days.

Administrators on zh.wikipedia tried to ban a specific IP that these sockpuppets used for creating new account, however “the user” still can do so. From this zh.community guessed “the user” may use dynamic IP in order to escape from banning.

More information of this vandalism case are on zh.wikipedia: zh:Wikipedia:当前的破坏/User:打倒中国. (Information are in Chinese).

Information request to check: 1) Did any user on zh.wikipedia edit using the IP same as these two accounts request to check at the same time. It is because “the user” did not involve in any edit war, instead, the first attack started once he registered. There is a chance that “the user” is the sockpuppet of current user.

2) Please check the country that the IPs located of these two accounts. Please also reveal the ISP used if IPs are on a large ISP, according to checkuser policy. Furthermore, “the user” may use proxy server to access zh.wikipedia as the site is still in the block of China government. If so, please reveal the country of proxy servers located.

Can someone tell me if Kemmótar, Jorgengb and Siri68 are the same person. I'm amused by the fact that 3 norwegians are all interested in lumbard language and oppose the confirmation of italian stewards. For Kemmótar and Jorgengb I'm pretty sure, just look at the babel in their user pages, their linguistic abilities are strikingly identical. There were a number of suspicious accounts before the accusation of mass sockpuppetry was launched:

The first one has a user name which has already been involved in an IP disruption outside Wikipedia - he has no account on Romanian Wiki. Onano has three edits. One to his user page, one to the vote and one obscene posting on the talk page of one of the early supporters of closing. Porneater has three edits too, one to his userpage, one to vote and one to correct his vote. On his Meta user page, he claims to be Ponyeater, but neither Ponyeater nor Porneater exist on English Wiki.

Also suspicious in view of the Mauco affair, not primarily on account of sockpuppetry, but should be checked against the others:

  • fr:User:Jmfayard-fauxnez (no such user on French wiki, FWIW the last name sounds like "phoney" in English)
  • en:User:Keethraxx (claimed to exist on English Wiki, but only registered contributed there after someone claimed he had no account there)

I am negative since I think Privacy policy should be estimated. We are better to be careful always. On the other hand, why cannot we reject most of those votes due to lack of vote eligibility? Montenegro wiki request vote on Meta (Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Montenegrin)

Please take a look at the last about 30 users that voted in support here. They all made accounts within a very short period of time, and voted in support within a very short period of time. Also, the only reason they created their accounts was so that they can vote (all of them had their first and only edit there, voting in support). To me, this strategy that they think is going to get them a new project is very slippery and must be stopped dead in its tracks. I suspect that User:OutLook and User:Ego and his own are behind this, because they keep claiming that they're "sure" that those votes are actual people who are from Montenegro. link They might be making the sockpuppets themselves, or they may be calling their friends to vote, which is meatpuppetry and still isn't allowed. Just a few comments from someone that got drafted in from IRC...
  1. The article was undergoing massive arguments between multiple users.
  2. The order of "Supports" and "Opposes" was shifted in a very random space and messed up somewhat, for unknown, possibly malacious, reasons. The current page was refactored by me, however Naconkantari has ended the current conflict and I'm trying to distance myself from my own edits (since I probably f***ed up badly).
  3. The article has numerous votes from what appear to be single purpose accounts, things that on Wikipedia/EN are banned.
  4. Some of the users are not even users and they are buried in refactoring of comments and discussions.
  5. It's currently impossible to tell which users are legit and which are not. Some are eerily identical and there have already been accusations of sockpuppetry in the list of users itself.
  6. Ideal checkusers would be between OutLook, Ego and his own, and the red-linked usernames on the support list. On the oppose side, I'd like to see results of TheFEARgod compared with those from SerbiaAndMontenegro and Brasoveanul, since they all signed identically. (Of course, that may be an illegitamate signage and it's buried in the history).
All in all, it feels like (What with the supposed comments of "Vote recruiting" seen on the discussion page) there may be numerous batches of socks, SPAs, or meats voting on the page. And I have already screwed up once. I'd like to get this chapter over with.

There is a user repeatedly creating accounts and posting what apperas to be copyrighted material on the user and talk pages. They can be seen in recent changes right now or in my contributions hi:User:Taxman. Requests to stop have gone unanswered, and they simply repost the material. One of the reposts was by the IP 212.116.220.31. Is that the same IP the other accounts were registered from, and will an account creation block on that IP be sufficient, or are there more IP's that need to be blocked? Cross-language harassment

I have been subject to harassment at several Wikimedia projects by a user impersonating me at the Japanese Wikipedia, and when this user attempted to hack into my account, I went into paranoia mode and registered as "Ryulong" at every language Wikipedia (even with the little math problem thing). I found that my name had already been registered at the Korean and Chinese Wikipedias (where I had to register as "Ryulong-en" as a temporary measure). I managed to contact administration at ko-wiki, but Shizhao at zh-wiki is seeking a checkuser to confirm this, and he does not have the rights.

The user impersonating me is zh:User:Ryulong and the various IPs (mostly open proxies) used by the user in question can be found at en:User:Interrobamf/Bobabobabo. My own IP can be determined through a checkuser of my meta account (and possibly checked against my accounts en:User:Ryulong or zh:User:Ryulong-en).—Ryulong 05:13, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Check user for vandal on vls wikipedia

The West-Flemish Wikipedia is a rather small wikipedia with a very limited number of sysops/admin. Today, it's been vandalized by the same user vls:User:Quantumdood, vls:User:Weertje, vls:User:Alternatief, vls:User:Wielewalter, vls:User:Vandanaal, after the creation and removal of an article about what is en:High Icelandic on the English WP. Check the recent changes from october 6 [28].

This seems a man, name Braekmans, the creator of High Icelandic, and a user who has been active on many wikipedia's, esp. the Dutch nl: and English one for over a year now. An example of his edits [29] on the VLS-wiki. The problem is: this guy has been active on different wikipedia's for over a year, throwing around heavy personnal attacks, vandalizing, and threateing wikipedia. (An example from the English wikipedia from a couple of months ago... albeit in Dutch [30]).

I believe these usernames originate from the same IP adress, probably 84.x.x.x, located in Belgium, part of the IP range of Telenet. ((84.194.241.232 to be specific). Normally, users can be simply blocked, period, and there's no need the further identify them (although the VLS-wiki has limited admin resources, but well, that's our problem). This however is still continuing after a year cross-wiki (the user himself once declared "war on wikipedia") with what seems very bad abuse on different Wikipedia projects, and the least we can do is send a message to the ISP, who might take appropriate actions (or not, the dynamic dial-in address do change regularly). Possibly, a similar request has been done before (I've asked around on the NL-wiki, I believe nl:User:MADe kept a record, I might provide more information the following days). If it proves to be another address, he probably has changed, or someone else has taken over the roll. Anyway, I hope this proves to be a valid reason.

Note: I don't know what the legal regulations are around the Wikimedia projects. My request does indeed ask for the IP of a registered user. First of all, I'm not sure if someone has to rights or abilities to do a check on this small vls-wiki project ? Moreover, I don't know if this can be provided here in public, or in private email, or if someone else can send some standard abuse report. Also, it might be sufficient to confirm the addressed used by the above usernames was in fact 84.194.241.232 Anyway, if someone could help out, I would be gratefull, otherwise, well, too bad, but that's all I can do about it.

New problem - sockpuppet abuse on Simple Wikipedia. simple:User:Kimberly Ashton (also User:Ashley, User:AshleyT, User:CopperTone) has used sockpuppets to vandalise themselves while keeping edits contructive on the above list accounts. We've looked through them and matched up everything we've got and decided it was the same person, blocked all sockpuppets including a simple:User:Bobo. Bobo is now claiming that he/she is entirely different to this user, and has given their permission via email for a CheckUser to be unblocked. Please confirm if Bobo is operating from 71.231.130.56 (or a similar IP in that range), and whether they are in Canada (as they claim) or New York (sockpuppet abuser's IP location). User:Bobo has user two different IPs, both from Canada. From that IPs he has created other users: simple:User:Torra and simple:User:Aceata smart, which were used to vote on simple:Wikipedia:Requests for deletion and another one, simple:User:Flight 90 which has only vandalised simple:Fidel Castro. Surely a problematic user, but there is no evidence that he has something to do with simple:User:Kimberly Ashton and similar. --M/ 17:19, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

I think these account are same user,because

  1. User:美国计生委 hasn't had any editing activities in the past 8 moths.
  2. It appeared to me that when zh:User:Jasonzhuocn blocked zh:User:民國九十五年 at 18:12 UTC today , zh:User:美国计生委 suddenly startedwriting some messages on Jasonzhuocn's talk page 14 minutes after.

I have just blocked User:Nicolae for three days for disrupting pages related to the closure of the Moldovan Wikipedia; it has been brought to my attention that his behavior is very similar to that of banned user Bonaparte. Not knowing if there are records related to Bonaparte available here on Meta, I'd like to ask that the results be posted to the checkuser-l list.
