Shouldn't the name of this lemma, and the sex of this person, be changed to 'Chelsea Manning' respectively 'female'? Source: slate.com:"Wikipedia Beats Major News Organizations, Perfectly Reflects Chelsea Manning’s New Gender" and links in that article. Sincerely, RonnieV (talk) 11:59, 23 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Manning is still male according to formal sources, and from a legal point of view. Danrok (talk) 12:16, 23 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Maybe, maybe not. Looking at the titles of the wikipedia articles 'Bradley' seems to be more popular there. English Wikipedia has gone back to 'Bradley' until there is a clear move by reliable sources to use 'Chelsea'. Filceolaire (talk) 01:10, 20 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

English Wikipedia changed the title of this item's corresponding article from 'Bradley Manning' to 'Chelsea Manning' per Talk:Bradley_Manning/October_2013_move_request. I've changed this item's label accordingly. Emw (talk) 00:31, 16 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

publisher statement

edit

@KalHolmann: What is this edit about [1]? I just changed the publisher to be an actual organization (that runs the website in quesiton), to fix the constraint violation. Ghouston (talk) 02:41, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Ghouston: Thanks. You are correct. I changed it back to NBC News. KalHolmann (talk) 14:45, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Gender identity

edit

Delimiting that Manning was a man until some specific end date and became a woman after some date is completely incorrect. The fact that Manning had came out as transgender and done transgender reassignment procedures on specific dates shouldn’t determine her gender’s start and end dates, because she was transgender even before public announcement. This is similar to how we won’t describe Q483325 as straight up to a certain point and lesbian afterwards, we just describe her as lesbian. stjn[ru] 22:33, 23 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

sources

edit

@Chouette bougonne: easy to claim "vandalism", harder to bring sources. 2A01:CB05:8665:7600:1DDE:325B:C837:D105 17:35, 12 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
