Glosses with multiple senses?

edit

@Fnielsen, ArthurPSmith, Mahir256:

小さい – Small. This gloss seems to include more than one sense. Is it a even a gloss? Should I add it to the lexeme instead? – Shisma (talk) 16:14, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Shisma: maybe talk page of the lexeme would be a better place to discuss than here? Anyway, the gloss in question seems to be looking at this lexeme as a prefix for which it has several specific examples when combined with other lexemes... so I think it's a single sense, but maybe not quite the same sense as the one it's attached to now (i.e. as a prefix, rather than a standalone word)? ArthurPSmith (talk) 17:17, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ArthurPSmith: I'm not asking what the word means: I' trying to figure out if I'm using the property as it is intended. This is a complete entry of dictionary explaining an adjetive that can mean small, low or minor. The text is not structured by sense, like wikidata. This property seems to assume that a gloss only represents a single sense, rather than a lexeme with all its senses. I'm not sure what a gloss is 😅 but maybe the entity-types constraint should be expaned to lexeme. 🤷 – Shisma (talk) 18:18, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I would just extract "Small, little in size" for that sense and then construct another sense with "trifling, or of small importance" (if that is appropriate. "- inu" (chisai-inu?) seems to be a(nother) compound and an entirely other lexeme (I do not know Japanese, so I might be wrong). — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 18:56, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
So you think this text is more than a gloss. makes sense. I still think the whole entry as a quote is of value for wikidata. Should we create another property dictionary entry quote? – Shisma (talk) 18:08, 3 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
