Splitting of the cross-section into natural and unnatural parity exchange contributions for quasi-two-body reactions

Summary

We show that in quasi-two-body reactions 1+2→3+4 it is possible to split the experimental cross-sections in parts with only natural or unnatural parity exchange, and this for each helicity state of the particles. When one of the initial particles is spinless, the result is readily obtained by looking at very simple linear combinations of the usual measured density-matrix elements. When none of the initial particles are spinless one has to perform a single well-defined polarization experiment. We also show that it is experimentally possible to distinguish a Regge-pole model with evasive and/or conspiring trajectories, from other possibilities.

Si dimostra che nelle reazioni di quasi due corpi 1+2→3+4 è possibile separare la sezione d'urto sperimentale in parti con scambio di parità solo naturale o solo innaturale, e ciò per ogni stato di elicità delle particelle. Quando una delle particelle iniziali non ha spin, il risultato si ottiene facilmente osservando semplicissime combinazioni lineari degli usuali elementi misurati della matrice di densità. Quando nessuna delle particelle iniziali è priva di spin, si deve eseguire un solo ben determinato esperimento di polarizzazione. Si dimostra anche che è sperimentalmente possibile distinguere un modello di poli di Regge con traiettorie evasive e/o cospiranti derivanti dalle altre possibilità.

Мы показываем, что в квази-двухчастичных реакциях 1+2→3+4 можно разделить экспериментальные поперчные сечения на части с обменом только естественной четностью и с обменом неестественной четностью, и это возможно для каждого спирального состояния частиц. Когда одна из начальных частиц имеет нулевой спин, то результат легко получается, рассматривая очень простые линейные комбинации обычно измеряемых элементов матрицы плотности. Если же ни одна из начальных частиц не имеет нулевого спина, то следует провести единственный хорошо определенный поляризационный эксперимент. Мы также показываем, что экспериментально возможно различить модель полюсов Редже с неуловимыми и/или конспиративными траекториями от других возможностей.
