Apart from the sensor front-end, integrated sensor systems comprise also local intelligent controllers allowing for signal processing and communication. The design of such systems requires multidisciplinary cooperation. This article presents the concept of integrated sensor systems, sheds light on various integration aspects and highlights their practical implementation by means of a concrete example from flow measurement.
