Abstract

Software sizing is one of the necessary metrics for calculating the size, cost, duration, and effort of the project. It has a direct impact on development effort and project management. As the size of the project increases, accuracy is really important. There are a number of metrics available for size estimation, and it is very difficult to select the most suitable method for calculating the size of a software project. Function point analysis (FPA) is the most suitable method to estimate the size and complexity of the software. In this work, the FPA method is used for calculating the cost of re-engineering and reproduction applications. After applying the FPA method to the re-engineering and reproduction applications, a comparison graph is generated which compares the processing complexity, unadjusted function points (UFPs), and total function points.
