Abstract
The novel design of circularly polarized square microstrip antenna embedded with a pair of circular and rectangular slots and loaded with rectangular stubs on the corner edges of the square patch is proposed. The systematic study that presents degeneration of orthogonal modes supported by a parametric study on various patch parameters is presented. The modifications in patch yield two orthogonal modes along two diagonal axes of square patch and presence of slots and stubs yield optimum spacing between them that yields circularly polarized response. The VSWR and axial ratio bandwidth of 404 MHz (>40%) and 32 MHz (3.7%) in 900 MHz frequency band is obtained. The proposed antenna yields broadside pattern with gain greater than 7 dBi.
