Abstract
This chapter overviews humanoid robots developed in Humanoid Robotics Project (HRP) and the related projects. The first platform in the project was HRP-1 developed by HONDA R&D in 2000. The robot played an important role where four different applications were developed on the basically same robot hardware. In the same project, new platform HRP-2 was also developed by AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology), Kawada Industries Inc., and other companies. Later, HRP-2 has become one of the successful platforms in the research field of humanoid robotics. Moreover another HRP robots, HRP-3P, HRP-3, HRP-4C, HRP-4, and HRP-2Kai, were developed in the following projects. Their purposes, basic hardware specifications, and the results are explained.
