Union Public Schools released an updated "return to school" plan on Wednesday.

Students will head back to the classroom on Wednesday, Aug. 18, with some new COVID guidelines in place.

Parents have the option to put their child in either in-person or virtual learning, excluding pre-Kindergarten, which has no virtual option.

At this time, the district will not be requiring students to wear face masks, but it is an option for students, staff, and guests if they choose to do so. Also, there are no physical distancing protocols in place.

If there's a large COVID outbreak or high risk of community spread at the school, Union may institute distance learning for all students. The district will work with local health officials and the Tulsa Health Department to determine level of risk.

If your student is forced to quarantine, Union has guidelines listed on its website.

The district asks all families to monitor the health of their children. Students who have a fever should not be sent to school for 24 hours.

The bus will run as normal at the beginning of the school year, but may be unable to provide service for all students due to shortages or other issues.

District officials will discuss the plan in the next board meeting on Monday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. Before the meeting, the public can send any comments to communications@unionps.org.
