Becker’s Dry Goods on Instagram: "Yes, you can find these on my website beckersdrygoods.com, or you can make them yourself. If you make them yourself, old sheets, pajama pants, or other flannel material will do the job quite nicely 😊

1. Source your flannel and cut them into whatever size works best for you. I like mine at 10x12”.

2. Sew around the edges to help prevent fraying. I use a serger but you can use a zigzag stitch on a regular sewing machine.

3. If you are using a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine, make sure you backstitch so it does not come undone. Because I overlap my beginning and ending stitches by 1/2” or more, my serged stitches don’t come undone.

4. Wash and dry your new towels with a load of laundry you were already going to wash. Skip the fabric softener, it on

Complete your final stitch and bring the needle to the WRONG SIDE of the fabric.

On the wrong side, pass the needle through the last stitch you made to create a small loop, and then pass the needle through the loop to form the first knot. Pull it tight to secure it.

Create a second knot by forming another small loop and passing the needle through it, then pulling it tight.

Once you're sure the knots are secure, trim any excess thread.

🧷 Trendy PDF sewing patterns on Instagram: "Do you know how to finish the end of an invisible zipper?

1. Attach the zipper to your garment and make sure there is some excess length at the end of the zipper.
2. Cut off the excess down to 6–7 cm (about 2 3/4”).
3. Cut along the zipper teeth, stopping 2 cm (3/4”) short of the marked zipper end. Cut off the zipper teeth leaving the tape intact.
4. Seal the tape edges with a lighter.
5. Fold the tape edges over the zipper end, placing one on top of the other. Press for convenience. Fold the remaining edges under the seam allowances and cut off the excess.
6. Secure by machine-stitching along the edges of the seam allowances.

There is a pretty big difference between a standard buttonhole and a more elevated buttonhole - primarily through its overall look and feel both on the front and back.

The three most important steps are as follows -

1 - Raising your machine tension

Increased tension causes the bobbin threads to be pulled to the top, causing an embossed effect.

2 - Stitch width

For dress shirts and tops, I usually go with a 3 - 4 stitch width, however this will change depending on your preference and the type of fabric you are working with. Thinner fabrics may look better with thinner buttonholes

How to gather fabric:
1. Set your machine to loose tension, and medium-long stitch length
