Haute couture jewellery always reflects a great deal about a brand: their rich history; the realisation of their artistry;the interesting range of techniques they employ; the high quality of the materials they use;and the unique gemstones and memorable designs they combine. Each new design is like a good book which you just want to curl up with and enjoy properly, and this is exactly what I was lucky enough to be able to do at JCK, when I became acquainted with the brand Cantamessa.

Topaz is a fairly common stone frequently found in jewellery pieces. We usually think of it as being light blue but topaz can actually be almost any colour: yellow, pink, violet, grey, wine-dark, light green or even colourless. Amongst all these different types of topaz, there are examples of a totally unusual orangey pink variety which has its own name: imperial topaz or imperials which I would like to talk about separately.

It's surprisingly rare in the field of art jewellery to find an individual who is equally adept at designing a piece and bringing it to life at the bench. One of those jewellery 'unicorns' is Sean Gilson – a Connecticut-based master craftsman who creates each piece by hand, from initial sketch to final jewel. #coraljewelry #pearls #earrings #necklace #jewellery
