Eurasian Eagle Owl Information

The Eagle Owl along with Blakiston's Fish Owl are the largest owls in the world. These owls prefer open areas with forests and although very territorial they can found throughout Europe, from Finland and Russia down to Gibraltar. Eagle owls belong to the group of 'horned owls' and while many people think that the tufts are the owls ears, this is not true. This owl species is opportunistic when it comes to food and will take whatever they can from birds to smaller mammals. They nest in rocky areas and lay two to four eggs in the Spring time. The female owl incubate the eggs for 33 days and during this period the male provides the food.
