I'm enjoying trying different colors and designs on paper before I go to all of the work of painting the wooden horses. It eliminates a lot of mistakes and speeds things up a bit because I can refer to my designs instead of creating each horse from scratch. Some color combinations work better than others so it helps to make several copies of the black and white page so you can try each design in different colors.

In the summer I started this wool work cushion cover and at last I have finished it! I temporarily lost the bag of wool but found it and completed the stitching this weekend. It was inspired by seeing a lot of folk art in Sweden though not copied from anything directly, in fact I made it up as I went along which is my usual way of working. I recently came across a shop that sources beautiful pieces of antique furniture and sometimes textiles from Sweden, and purchased a few delicious pieces to sell. Here is one of them, a beautiful Swedish embroidery, a felt appliqué panel with three lovely flaxen-haired girls carrying candles surrounded by flowers.
