However, in most cases these kits do not meet the quality attributes for use in regulated environment. The process for adaptation of these kits can be frustrating, time consuming and resource intensive. In addition, a lack of harmonized guidance for the validation of biomarker poses a significant challenge in the adaptation of kits in a regulated environment. The purpose of this perspective is to propose a tiered approach to commercial drug development kits with clearly defined quality attributes and to demonstrate how these kits can be adapted to perform analytical validation in a regulated environment.

High salt stress occurs during the dry season and at transplanting in the wet season. More than 20 million ha of land suited to rice production in Asia are affected by excess salt and other soil-related problems, 7 million ha of it in India and Bangladesh. Salt stress extends to large parts of Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) and West Africa due to the buildup of salt arising from poor irrigation management, deforestation of mangroves, and saltwater intrusion. Rice yield is low at less than 1.5 t ha -1 . We aim to continue breeding for salt-tolerant rice varieties that yield well and are also tolerant of other soil-related problems and to disseminate these breeding lines for wider adaptability and release as varieties. In this paper, charge control mechanism and carrier features have been precisely investigated in ... more In this paper, charge control mechanism and carrier features have been precisely investigated in InxGa1-xN/InN/InxGa1-xN based quantum-well double heterostructure high electron mobility transistors (QW-DHEMTs). A study of charge control in the InxGa1-xN/InN/InxGa1-xN structure is performed by self-consistently solving Schrödinger equation in conjunction with Poisson’s equation taking into account the spontaneous and piezoelectric polarization effects. The potential profile and the distribution of electron density in the channel as a function of gate voltage are investigated here. A large conduction band offset of about 2.2eV is obtained for the proposed device for In content x=0.05, which ensure better carrier confinement and higher sheet charge density. The influence of In composition(x) and doping concentration of InxGa1-xN upper barrier on sheet charge density and carrier distributions in channel is also presented. This analysis provides a platform to investigate the InN based QW-DHEMTs and to optimized their design.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to predict risk of cerebral infarction either cortical or la... more Objectives: The aim of the study was to predict risk of cerebral infarction either cortical or lacunar in population having dyslipidaemia and to create awareness regarding it as a risk factor for ischaemic stroke and to take preventive measures for the prevention of a first or recurrent ischaemic stroke. Method: This study was conducted in the Department of Nurology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka from March to October, 2006. This study included 30 acute ischaemic stroke patients diagnosed by history, clinical findings and confirmed by CT/MRI scan of head within 2 weeks of attack. Both man and woman age ranging from 40-90 years were eligible to enter into the study. The same number of age and sex matched nonstroke patients who gave blood for analysis were included as control. Result: In this study among other risk factors total serum cholesterol was raised in both cortical and lacunar infarct in 50% of cases in comparison to 33.3% controls (P<0.05). LD...

The objective of this study was to determine the initial neurologic symptoms of multiple sclerosis among Bangladeshi patients. A total of 25 respondents of multiple sclerosis patients as cases selected by McDonald et al. (2001) diagnostic criteria for multiple sclerosis were enlisted during the study period. The clinical details, investigations of the respondents were reviewed. Data were recorded in predesigned data collection sheet. Out of 25 cases, male patients were 12 (48%) and females were 13 (52%), ratio being 1:1.08. Majority of the patients presented at second, third and fourth decades of life. Most of the patients (56%) had acute onset, followed by subacute (28%) and insidious (16%). Mucopolysaccharidosis VII (MPS VII) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by the deficiency o... more Mucopolysaccharidosis VII (MPS VII) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by the deficiency of beta-glucuronidase leading to the intralysosomal storage of heparan, dermatan, and chondroitin sulfate. Here, we report the identification of two novel missense mutations K350N and R577L in a 37-year-old patient with beta-glucuronidase deficiency and a relatively mild MPS VII phenotype. Expression of the K350N mutation in baby hamster kidney cells has revealed residual enzymatic activity and normal transport of the enzyme to the lysosome. However, expression of the R577L or the double mutant K350N/R577L results in rapid degradation of the enzyme in early biosynthetic compartments and a total loss of enzymatic activity. We attribute the mild phenotype to the residual catalytic activity provided by the K350N mutant. At the time of her death at the age of 37 years, this patient was the longest known survivor with MPS VII.
