O Brasil e considerado o pais com a maior biodiversidade do mundo e um dos seus biomas, a Caating... more O Brasil e considerado o pais com a maior biodiversidade do mundo e um dos seus biomas, a Caatinga, possui elevada heterogeneidade vegetacional e endemismo, o que torna esse ambiente de extrema importância biologica. Apesar de ser um bioma onde o estudo das plantas medicinais e bastante explorada, a Caatinga ainda possui muitas especies de plantas que nao foram devidamente analisadas, entre essas especies existem o Croton blanchetianus, conhecido popularmente como marmeleiro-do-mato, com informacoes acerca de suas propriedades medicinas ainda com lacunas. Sendo assim, o objetivo desse estudo foi analisar a composicao fitoquimica dos extratos etanolicos e metanolicos das folhas e raizes do Marmeleiro (Croton blanchetianus). The main gold deposit discoveries in Minas Gerais during the colonial period occurred in the Mari... more The main gold deposit discoveries in Minas Gerais during the colonial period occurred in the Mariana Anticline region, southeast of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero. Since then, it has been the target of gold extraction and exhaustively studied, which has given the region great significance. This paper describes and makes a quantitative assessment of Chico Rei and Passagem geo-mining heritages. These geo-mining sites show the important geological processes of the earth’s crust during the Paleoproterozoic and Neoproterozoic, and the gold mining history, through its methods and techniques used in two distinct historical periods. Gold deposits occur along the main mineralized zone on the stratigraphic levels of the Caraça and Itabira groups. In the Chico Rei Mine, gold mineralization occurs mainly as quartz-sulfide veins hosted in the itabirites of Cauê Formation. Its operation marks the colonial period, where slave labor was used to mine gold with rudimentary techniques and also when geological knowledge was not satisfactory. In the Passagem Mine, gold mineralization is stratiform tourmalinites and quartz-tourmaline-sulfide veins hosted in Batatal Formation. The Passagem Mine, created in 1819, represents the imperial period, marked by the opening of the Brazilian ports, bringing geological knowledge and new techniques for decadent gold production, through its greatest exponent in the region, the Baron of Eschwege. The quantitative evaluation of the Chico Rei and Passagem mines using the GEOSSIT platform shows us that the two geosites have international scientific relevance, national relevance for educational and tourist use, and low risk of degradation.

No Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF), o abastecimento público de água é feito principalmente com a capt... more No Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF), o abastecimento público de água é feito principalmente com a captação de águas das bacias hidrográficas. Entretanto, em alguns locais, há a utilização de água subterrânea, proveniente de nascentes ou mesmo de minas abandonadas, para o abastecimento humano. As principais fontes naturais de As no QF estão relacionadas às rochas que hospedam depósitos auríferos sulfetados. As fontes antrópicas de As são as pilhas de rejeito, solos e sedimentos contaminados. Em águas coletadas em algumas minas auríferas subterrâneas e nascentes das regiões de Ouro Preto e Mariana, foram encontradas concentrações de As total variando de 2 a 2980µg/L e de As3+ de 1 até 86 µg/L. Com base nos estudos geológicos e hidrogeoquímicos da ocorrência de As, nas rochas e nas águas subterrâneas, observou-se que as maiores concentrações de As são encontradas nos aqüíferos hospedados em rochas que possuem sulfetos e carbonatos, embora as concentrações dos aqüíferos que possuem somente s...

Aim To analyse the worldwide distribution patterns of hagfishes using panbiogeographical track ... more Aim To analyse the worldwide distribution patterns of hagfishes using panbiogeographical track analysis, and to attempt to correlate these patterns with the tectonic history of the ocean basins.Location Atlantic and Pacific oceans.Method The distributions of 47 out of 70 species of hagfish (in the genera Eptatretus, Myxine, Nemamyxine, Neomyxine, and Paramyxine) were studied by the panbiogeographical method of track analysis. The analysis was performed using distributional data obtained from the collections included in the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS, http://www.iobis.org) and FishBase (http://www.fishbase.org), with additional records from the literature. Individual tracks were obtained for each species by plotting localities and connecting them by minimum‐spanning trees.
