Although synthetic herbicides are effective, concerns about their environmental and health impact have been raised. This study investigates the allelopathic potential, antimicrobial activity, and phytochemical profile of Artemisia monosperma. Extracts from A. monosperma proficiently impede the growth of Chenopodium murale and Amaranthus viridis, while exhibiting varying effects on crops Solanum lycopersicum and Cucumis sativus. Leaf and seed extracts demonstrate the most significant inhibition of weed growth. Interestingly, the leaf extract at a concentration of 50% inhibited weed growth in pot experiments without affecting crop growth. We propose a framework synergizing multi-source information for modelling the erosion area based on three components: (1) river discharge, (2) river width, and (3) erosion area. The total river discharge for the watershed shared by Afghanistan and Tajikistan was modelled using hydrological parameters from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) Reanalysis v5 (ERA5) data through multivariate linear regression with ground station data. The river width was determined manually using the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) derived from Landsat data. The riverbank erosion area was derived from the digital shoreline analysis using the NDWI. The consortium of antagonistic rhizospheric Bacillus strains and quercetin were evaluated imperatively as a possible remedy to effectively manage the Fusarium wilt disease of tomato plants. The selection of Bacillus strains was made based on in-vitro antagonistic bioassays against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycoprsici (FOL). Whereas, quercetin was selected after screening a library of phytochemicals during in-silico molecular docking analysis using tomato LysM receptor Kinases “SILKY12” based on its dual role in symbiosis and plant defense responses. Mace, the arils of Myristica fragrans, are a rich source of several bioactive compounds, including polyphenols and aromatic compounds. During nano synthesis, the bioactive compounds in mace aqueous extracts serve as excellent bio reductants, stabilizers, and capping agents. The UV-VIS spectroscopy of the synthesized NPs showed an intense and broad SPR absorption peak at 456 nm. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis showed the size with a Z average of 50 nm, while transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies depicted the round shape and small size of the NPs, which ranged between 5–28 nm. Dry powder of ginger was extracted in ethanol and tested for antifungal activity at 0.5%, 1.5%, ..., 5.5% concentrations in vitro . Poisoned food technique and spore germination assay were used to evaluate the antifungal efficacy of extracts of ethanolic. All the concentrations showed inhibitory effect on the growth of test pathogen. The highest concentration (5.5%) had 90.4% inhibition on mycelia growth. In order to determine the incidence of dermatophytes and related keratinophilic fungi present in ... more In order to determine the incidence of dermatophytes and related keratinophilic fungi present in Riyadh soil, eighty soil samples were collected .These samples were screened using hair baiting techniques for isolation. Out of a total 80 samples, 69 (86%) were positive for growth of keratinophilic fungi. Eleven genera and 19 species were isolated and identified, of which Chrysosporium indicum (33.75%) was the most predominant species isolated followed by C.tropicum (26.25%), Aspergillus flavus (17.50%), Microsporum gypseum (13.75%) and Trichophyton terrestre (11.25%). Garden soils, followed by playground soils were found to be the most suitable for fungal growth. The present study was carried out to manage this pathogen in vitro and in vivo using different types of ultraviolet (UV) radiations. Two in vitro bioassays were carried out. In the first bioassay, malt extract agar medium was used in 9-cm diameter Petri plates. Plates were exposed for 15, 30, 45,..,120 minutes to three types of UV radiations viz. UV-A of wavelength 365 nm, UV-B of wavelength 302 nm and UV-C of wavelength 254 nm. In the second bioassay, malt extract broth was used in 250-mL conical flasks with the same treatments of UV irradiation. UV-C radiation exhibited the highest fungicidal potential in the two in vitro bioassays. UV-C irradiation for 45 minutes and above completely inhibited the fungal growth.
