It is shown, that in the process of evolution, a relationship between some hidden parameters of a... more It is shown, that in the process of evolution, a relationship between some hidden parameters of acoustic signals and expected emotional response to them has been formed. This relationship is a necessary condition for a living creature to survive. The efficiency of the concept represented is illustrated using examples from the field of classical music, ethnic African music, as well as biolinguistic signals of animals. Reasons of a particular impact of bell rings are analyzed using acoustic signals of some Bulgarian and Russian bell rings and chimes.

Measuring instruments (MISs) are being improved taking into consideration changing society requir... more Measuring instruments (MISs) are being improved taking into consideration changing society requirements and limitations associated with the Kuhn's law. The efficiency of resource investments in the MI improvement will be higher if the projected improvement complies with the general trend of MI development. The requirements for measurement information on various physical, chemical, biological, social and other objects and processes, go up. Therefore, determination of measurement technique development becomes more important. Evolutionary cybernetics applies the analogy between biological and technical systems. Adding functions that are characteristic for highly developed organisms to MIs can be efficient. New biological functions are the result of adaptation to the changing environment conditions. MIs adapting to changing influence factors and “ageing” by correction of metrological characteristics have higher trustworthiness of measurement results. As a result, to increase a calibration interval many times, is possible. In the future, communication functions similar to emotions will originate in MIs. As an artificial intelligence develops, MIs will have self-learning functions based on both the analysis of expert assessments and evaluation of multidimensional quantities by determining their values on ordinal value scales.

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) and AI systems has opened up new perspectives for... more The development of artificial intelligence (AI) and AI systems has opened up new perspectives for measurements due to the ability to process a number of measurement information streams using networks, recognize images in them, predict their changes and correlations with others, self-learn during operation, as well as make decisions. The level of capabilities to implement these functions in AI-provided measuring systems produced by different manufacturers can be different. Decisions made by the AI, if a manufacturer and user do not sufficiently consider the specifics of a particular system, can result in dangerous consequences. The experience of working in a Committee on Standardization that considers dozens of standard drafts related to AI systems for various applications has given grounds for presenting an analysis of trends in the development of such measuring systems and substantiating recommendations aimed at improving their efficiency.

According to specifications, lifetime of a linear stepping electromagnetic drive in WWER-1000 nuc... more According to specifications, lifetime of a linear stepping electromagnetic drive in WWER-1000 nuclear reactors is limited by the pre-assigned lifetimes of the drive components such as electromagnets, a latch assembly, drive rack, and control rod position sensor. The lifetime of the drive components is from 7 to 20 years. On the basis of diagnostics of these components under real conditions, actual lifetimes of the components at nuclear power plant (NPP) were forecasted. It is shown that in order to extend the lifetime of the drive components up to the reactor lifetime (60 years), it is necessary to replace the sensor of the DPL-type by the new one (of the DPL-KV type) and to decrease the electromagnet temperature. The Measuring and Diagnostic System with the DPL-KV sensor enables diagnosing the sensor, electronic processing unit and drive. Economic effect due to the cumulative technical decisions is estimated to be 7 mln.euro per NPP unit.

Hypotheses, which relate to regularities of the relationship between music and colour, are analyzed. Some colour musical compositions and shows are under consideration too. The difference between the evolution of acoustic signals and that of colour ones is noted. The main scientific problems, which should be solved for achieving strong and adequate emotional experience under such a complex influence, is considered. These problems are of an interdisciplinary character covering neuropsychology, biology, neurophysiology, physiological optics, and metrology.

Main customer properties of measurement information are considered in section 1 with reference to [1]. Section 2 is devoted to the detailed discussion of the problem of measurement information reliability [2-4]. It is shown that in many cases the reliability of information that can be obtained from embedded measuring instruments during a calibration or verifi cation interval is insuffi cient. Methods of developing the measurement instruments and measuring systems with metrological self-check are discussed in section 3 [5, 6, 8].
