In addition, three other names i.e., Justicia curviflora Wall. [basionym of Phlogacanthus curviflorus (Wall.) Nees], Loxanthus gomezii Nees [basionym of Phlogacanthus gomezii (Nees) J.R.I. Wood] and Justicia guttata Wall. [basionym of Phlogacanthus guttatus Nees] are also lectotypified.

The present paper provides a comprehensive inventory of 186 alien plant species of Tripura, their... more The present paper provides a comprehensive inventory of 186 alien plant species of Tripura, their invasion status on natural forested areas. Asteraceae is the most dominant family with 31 species followed by 56.98 % of the alien species reported from PAs of Tripura were of American origin. Life form analysis revealed the presence of 56.98% herbs, 16.12 % trees and 9.67 % shrubs. 106 species have been used in traditional medicines, 66 species were of potential ornamental value, 14 species were edibles, 12 species used as timber and 15 species used as green manure. Mikania micrantha, Ageratum conyzoides, Parthenium hysterophorus, Lantana camara, Chromolaena odorata, Ageratum houstonianum are the most invaded species while Ageratum houstonianum, Saccharum spontaneum, Hyptis suaveolens, Imperata cylindrica, Hypoestis phyllostachya are the five neo-invasives for the state

During present study Schizostachyum arunachalensis was found flowering and fruiting in the wild o... more During present study Schizostachyum arunachalensis was found flowering and fruiting in the wild on the hill slopes in Kane Wildlife Sanctuary of West Siang district (Arunachal Pradesh). A good population was observed near Magee village which is about 10 km from Elephant Camp. This bamboo can be easily distinguished by long internodes, larger leaves and peculiar leaf sheaths. A supplemented taxonomic description of this bamboo is provided. In light of flowering and fruiting material available now, its taxonomic placement in the new genus Stapletonia has been suggested, a new combination has been proposed, and coloured photographs have been provided to facilitate identification.

A new species, Rubus haridasanii, from Arunachal Pradesh, Eastern Himalaya, is described and illu... more A new species, Rubus haridasanii, from Arunachal Pradesh, Eastern Himalaya, is described and illustrated. It is closely related to Rubus preptanthus but differs by the presence of caudate-acuminate leaves, 5–6-flowered inflorescences, stipitate glandular pedicels and calyx, delicate needle-like prickles on the calyx, caudate apex of the sepals. The distinct foliar as well as floral morphology of R. haridasanii differ from all previously described species of Rubus. Differences in key morphological characters of R. haridasanii and R. preptanthus are also tabulated. In addition, pollen morphology is described based on light (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

The greatest species diversity of the genus is found in Southeastern Asia, East Asia and South America (Kalkman 1993, Gupta & Dash 2015a). The genus is recognized as one of the unsolved complexes for species delimitation due to hybridization, polyploidy and the large number of apomictic taxa (Weber 1996). The genus is characterized by woody or rarely herbaceous habit with simple to pinnate or compound leaves, terminal solitary to racemose and cymose inflorescence subtended by a foliar bract, pentamerous (rarely more petals) flowers with numerous stamens and pistils; drupaceous fruits with a distinct torus. An inventory of alien plants facilitates in determining the potential threats to the natural plant biodiversity. This present paper evaluates the alien plants in Mizoram (an Indo-Burma hotspot region) and provides the first authentic inventory of alien plants of Mizoram along with their diversity, ecological aspects, origin, and status of invasion. Extensive field surveys were done during July 2018 to September 2019 in different protected areas of Mizoram. We adopted Random Sampling Technique using nested quadrats in a plot size of 400 m2 (20 m × 20 m), within which a quadrate size of 5 m × 5 m was laid for shrubs and 1 m × 1 m was laid for herbs. A detailed description, illustration of the habit and stipule, SEM image of pollen grain, distribution map along with scanned image of the isotype of Rubus sengorensis have been provided to facilitate its easy identification. The pollen study by SEM has been done for the first time. On the basis of pollen morphology and other characters, the species has been assigned to the subgenus Chamaebatus.

The present study was aimed to assess the distribution patterns of different life-forms along the altitudinal gradients in the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) situated in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh (Western Himalaya, India).
