The paper has as a primary objective of mathematical modelling of the particles detachment from t... more The paper has as a primary objective of mathematical modelling of the particles detachment from the alveoli of indented cylinder separators, highlighting the critical angle of detachment, position and initial velocity of the particle. The numerical simulation of the impurities detachment points and the particle trajectory after detachment from the alveoli, until collecting into the receiving gutter, has been performed using MathCad 12 software. The paper also has as a secondary objective of verifying the mathematical model by comparing the theoretical and experimental trajectory. In order to highlight the particle trajectory on experimental path, an indented cylinder separator stand, a high speed video camera and specialized software for advanced motion analysis have been used. The results have been obtained from experimental research which confirm the mathematical model.

Over time, many methods of preserving fruit by drying/dehydration applied at the industrial level... more Over time, many methods of preserving fruit by drying/dehydration applied at the industrial level (convection, microwave, high frequency currents, infrared radiation, lyophilisation, etc.) have been discovered and perfected to improve the quality of dehydrated products as well as their resistance to storage. The application of many of them is quite expensive, the parameters of the drying process (processing time and energy consumption) having high values. Technological progress in this field involves the development of new dehydration techniques, optimizing existing ones or combining them, aiming to increase energy efficiency, obtain healthy products with high rehydration capacity, reduce costs and negative impact on the environment. The paper presents a brief summary of the basic principles of the DIC (Instant Controlled Pressure Drop) process, as well as the advantages of its uses in industrial fruit dehydration technologies or as pre-treatment.

Validation of the mathematical model of the heat transfer process in a porous medium was achieved by measuring the seed temperature at several points of the seed layer in a dryer. The CFD simulation obtained the temperature profile in the seed layer on the three thicknesses studied. Simulation and experiment allow optimization of the drying process by increasing the quality of dried seeds with low energy consumption. The results of the simulation and experimental data give a dry layer optimum thickness of the 100 mm for all tested seeds

Abstract: In the recent years, a rapid increase has been noticed from farmers and business men in fruit and vegetables dehydration, requiring dehydrating installations of up to 2-3 tons/charge, rarely being registered demands fot larger machines. Among these requests over two thirds have been asking for machines for up to 400 kg of fresh fruit per charge. Taking into account these requirements, it is recommended to use the convective dryers with trays. The paper presents a method of choosing and calculating the equipment and operating parameters according to productivity, product type, fuel, construction and cost optimization.

This paper presents an analysis of efficaciousness of different designs of baffles for two different tank, to limit the impact of the response given by the liquid on the tank walls. In this paper modelling of the behaviour of the cross-section circular and ellipsoidal tank with baffles, partially filled with liquids agro-food, was developed, which performs a braking-in-a-turn manoeuver. In order to be used as food supplements, materials (medicinal and aromatic plants, other material... more In order to be used as food supplements, materials (medicinal and aromatic plants, other materials containing active principles, etc.) need to be chopped and sorted by size, depending on the field of use: herbal tea, suspensions, tinctures, etc. The paper presents the results of research on the sorting process of some materials containing active principles (yarrow, alfalfa and willow bark) using a sorting machine provided with 2 electro vibrators fitted on each side of the framework within which 3 sieves with a mesh size of: 2.15, 4 and 8 mm are fitted, changing the oscillation regime of the sieves by adjusting the angle of the electro vibrators, in order to identify the optimal sorting regime.

The action of low temperatures leads to a slowing down of the modifying processes, both nutritionally and organoleptically. The researches presented within the paper aims to determine some specific parameters for the freezing process using an experimental model of a fast freezing equipment with liquid nitrogen. Experimental researches use two species of horticultural products, namely blueberries and green bean pods. The results indicate that the values of total freezing time, average linear freezing rate and liquid nitrogen consumption for quick freezing of blueberries were higher than those recorded for green bean pods. Also, with the lowering of the set temperature inside the freezing chamber, the freezing time from 0°C to the temperature of -15°C decreases, resulting in lower freezing times, higher average linear freezing ra...

Dehydration is an energy intensive process, a very large portion of the energy used in all indust... more Dehydration is an energy intensive process, a very large portion of the energy used in all industrial processes being used by this process. Between 15 to 20% of the total industrial energy consumption worldwide is used for dehydration, therefore optimization of the design and selection of equipment, process control and rational logistics are important factors for improving this process, thus reducing pollution and increasing the economic throughput. In this we paper analyze a portion of the convective dehydration of apples in order to identify opportunities for process optimization through monitoring and control of essential parameters (temperature, relative humidity and air velocity), as well as providing some automatic control algorithms for the dehydration process.

In this article it is studied the behaviour of a rechargeable battery, which outputs a maximum po... more In this article it is studied the behaviour of a rechargeable battery, which outputs a maximum power capacity of 17 kWh that's being used as the main source of the prototype electric tractor developed at INMA Bucharest. This tractor is equipped with 16 kW electric motor, 4 speed gearbox and 4x4 traction. The charging mode of the battery when it is supplied with different powers from the current source was studied, but also the power delivery mode when the tractor is in operation and different loads occur. The energy consumption of the battery has also been studied, from the moment when the tractor is put into operation, driving on flat asphalt or agricultural land, with or without load and also in extreme traction conditions, for ploughing or towing heavy loads.

Starting from this objective and using the Tit’s model for the working process of an indented cylinder separator, were obtained formulae and algorithms for two of its important qualitative parameters: the technological effect and the content of impurities at the machine exit. The formulae obtained, as entire mathematical model were verified experimentally on a indented cylinder separator using as raw material a batch of wheat with known qualitative indices. The accuracy of the formulae is good, so that the entire mathematical model can be used now in the design of indented cylinder separators.
