On January 26, veteran writer, photographer, and regular Imbibe contributor Pableaux Johnson collapsed while photographing the Ladies and Men of Unity second-line parade in New Orleans, and later died at a hospital. He was 59 years old. “Writer and photographer barely scratches the surface of what Pableaux Johnson was, or what he meant to his home city of New Orleans or the vast diaspora of friends and acquaintances he collected over the years,” writes Paul Clarke (@cocktailchron). “In many ways, Pableaux embodied New Orleans, and was the chief ambassador of the city’s spirit of joy, celebration, and generosity.” Head to the link in our bio to read more from Paul as he reflects on what made Pableaux so special to so many people.

An ideal climate and terroir are largely to thank for the quality of Panama’s coffee. The vast majority of specialty beans are grown in the Chiriquí province around Boquete and Volcán-Candela, bordering Costa Rica. At some 11,400 feet above sea level, the dormant volcano is the highest point in Panama. On the surrounding hillsides, many farmers grow their coffee plants among the forest at upwards of 5,000 feet.
