A Pakistani Halwa Puri breakfast consists of puris, chole masala, suji halwa and aloo ki bhujia. It’s a delicious breakfast platter that’s well-loved throughout the region, but especially popular in Lahore.
What is Halwa Puri?
Halwa Puri is a Pakistani breakfast platter that originates from the Indian subcontinent. It is considered a weekend brunch in Pakistan and India.
As a foodie, I decided it’s time we talk about the MOST popular breakfast in Pakistan: halwa puri. Or do you write halwa poori? Who cares as long as we have some flaky and soft pooris to dip into halwa right?
So, why exactly am I writing this post?
- I wanted to have a post on the internet which covered every halwa puri recipe you need to make a complete halwa puri breakfast.
- I believe it's time we honour the tradition of this halwa puri Pakistani breakfast and appreciate it for existing in our lives. Lol.
I know, I know, halwa puri isn’t exactly healthy. But what I also know is the excitement that comes with waking up on a lazy weekend morning and having halwa puri.
It’s the small things in life that brings the most happiness. And I think halwa puri is also a taste of happiness, isn't it?
Add some mango milkshake or karak chai to really take it up a notch!

Allyssea Carver
My boyfriend is Pakistani and I’m doing my best to try and make him feel like home, especially during Eid. He’s been missing it and his family. I am not versed in this kind of cooking, but I’m trying. (Mainly Native American, Americana, and Mexican foods). He said that the chick peas are usually with the potatoes and there’s a pickled element. Can you further explain?
Sincerely,
A girlfriend trying to make it feel sort of like home for her bf.
