A Kind of Guise Heads East to Georgia for FW21
Celebrating the country’s traditions of hospitality, extensive cuisine and wine-making.
Speaking to HYPEBEAST earlier this year, A Kind of Guise co-founder Yasar Ceviker described his German label as an “exploration into the lifestyles and cultures of various countries around the globe”. From Italy and Mongolia, to Indonesia and Ghana, the brand draws on day-to-day life in these respective locations, allowing these experiences to inform its eclectic seasonal offerings.
For Fall/Winter 2021 it’s no different as A Kind of Guise travels to the crossroads of Europe and Western Asia, to the eastern country of Georgia. Taking notes from the unique composition created by the country’s diverse nature and city high rises for the materials within the collection, FW21 is a celebration of Georgia’s hospitality, extensive cuisine and wine making.
With food playing a key role in the culture of Georgia, the word ‘supra’ stands for a traditional Georgian feast and literally means tablecloth in English, for this reason the Flores Shirt has doused with all-over ‘supra’ embroidery. The Janga jacket — which arrives in either navy or off-white — is inspired by a classic ranger jacket and houses two patches atop a lightweight cotton base.
Knit is also important this season with the Shida Knit Vest — made from soft merino wool with a classic V-neck design — without a doubt the stand-out piece, while a further selection of shirts, accessories and the brand’s nubuck “Whiskey” Merano Boots round out the capsule in style.
The first drop of A Kind of Guise’s FW21 collection is available to buy now from the brand’s online webstore.
