On 30th March, the cabling of the HTS REBCO cables required for the WP6a Prototype System (4*18 kA, 3*7 kA and 12*2 kA) was completed.
This represents a total of around 120 m of high-quality, flexible, round and electrically insulated REBCO cable, produced after significant development, as well has the construction and commissioning of a dedicated cabling machine. The current capability is over 20 kA at 4.2 K and 3 kA at 60 K.
This is a major achievement for WP6a and possibly the first fully qualified high-current HTS cable we produced at CERN for our projects.
Many thanks to the team responsible for making this possible.
