Do I Need to Schedule an Appointment, or Can I Walk In?

Get your flu vaccine by appointment. Book your appointment through the MyUHS/CMHC portal. Walk-ins are available but you may experience waiting time.

Type of Vaccine Administered

FLU

Fluzone Trivalent. This vaccine is preservative (thimerosal)-free and latex-free.

Do not get this vaccine if you have had a severe reaction to a previous flu vaccine. If you have a significant allergy to eggs, we recommend that you speak to your healthcare provider for guidance about obtaining the vaccine in a medical setting.

Insurance, Cost and Payment

Many insurance plans, including the Student Health Insurance Plan, cover annual flu vaccines with no cost to you.

Insurance is billed for:

  • UT students with insurance plans accepted by UHS.

Your anticipated out of pocket cost will be subject to your specific insurance member benefits, however, your maximum cost for the flu vaccine is $10. Any patient responsibility/charges will be sent to your "What I Owe" after we receive an Explanation of Benefits from your insurance.

For those that are not insured, have an insurance plan not accepted at UHS, or have out of network insurance:

  • If you are uninsured, your cost for the flu vaccine is $10. Charges will be sent to your "What I Owe".
  • If your insurance is not accepted by UHS, your cost for the flu vaccine is $10. Charges will be sent to your "What I Owe".
  • If your insurance is out of network with UHS, your specific out of pocket cost will be determined by your insurance, however the maximum you will pay will be $10 for the flu vaccine. Charges will be sent to your "What I Owe" once we receive an Explanation of Benefits back from your insurance.
  • You have health insurance, but you don’t want to use it, then your cost will be $10 for the flu vaccine. Charges will be sent to your "What I Owe".

Before Your Appointment or Walk-In Day

To ensure a seamless process, please upload your insurance information to the MyUHS/CMHC portal before your vaccine appointment. If your insurance is already uploaded, do not upload it again, as this can cause duplication. Having your insurance information on file beforehand allows us to efficiently file a claim. If your insurance does not cover the full cost, any remaining balance will be reflected in your "What I Owe". No payments will be collected at the actual flu vaccination appointments.

On Your Appointment or Walk-In Day

For a smooth check-in experience, please bring your phone and have your appointment QR code ready.

It takes about two weeks after vaccination to develop protection.
