Overview

  1. uTox 0.18.1
  2. Operating system: devuan linux
  3. all desktop environments

Issue

Building with filter_audio gives a "Filter Audio" toggle in settings, but what benefit is it supposed to yield?

I notice it appears to apply auto gain control (AGC). In my test environment with speakers (not headphones), this pulls up microphone gain and leads to echo/feedback.

Telephony / audio conferencing needs echo cancellation (AEC). There is code to provide this in libfilteraudio/aec.

I'm logging this issue here as a feature request to implement automatic echo cancellation, as an optional feature in uTox settings.

Cheers!
