I tend to maintain projects that help developers. They also happen to be really useful to enterprise. Any funding via GitHub Sponsors is going to support me with maintenance, improvements and building new tools.
Why should you support my work?
Honestly, if you are asking me that you probably won't. Don't worry, i'll still be here next week if you change your mind. The reality is that it's a signal to know where you want development effort to go. Otherwise I go on the next best signal which is github stars followed by what is most useful to me.
A kind word goes a long way, but a bit of money shows your appreciation for someone else's work even more.
While I release code in the most open way possible, I do think that companies that benefit from this work should contribute in some way to the value they are able to use. While developers don't need to drive Ferraris they do need to eat.
