Hi! I'm Dmitry Slutsky aka Lakret. I'm Germany-based software engineer / engineering manager.
A few months ago I had a bad startup job experience, so I decided to concentrate on my YouTube channel ModernRetroTech and make more educational material about algorithms, Rust, Elixir, and other fun tech.
Check out some examples:
- Writing a compression algorithm from scratch in Rust
- Matching braces algorithm in Rust
- Representing graphs in Rust
- Solving N-Queens problem with backtracking in Elixir
I also do live streams where I try new tech live / solve programming challenges such as Advent of Code. For example:
- AoC 2022, day 7 live coding, day 6 review, Elixir
- AoC 2020, day 1 + Rust "REPL"
- AoC 2020, day 21 live coding, days 19 & 20 review, Rust
- Zola: Rust's static website generator trial
- Let's try Nx: Numerical Elixir
I'm supporting myself with consulting gigs so far, but the plan is to concentrate fully on making content - your support can help me achieving this goal faster :)
Some fun facts about me:
- Two things I cannot do without are weight lifting and zazen.
- I live in Berlin and quite predictably I love dancing & local club culture.
- I'm a weeb and learning Japanese. I can speak some and got to a level where I can read not too complex manga without much reliance on a dictionary. My favorites are ハイキュー、Bleach、and ベルセルク. よろしくお願いします!
