401 on web requests with token (from postman), is it by design? only api works with tokens?

I wanted to use Fess to index the contents of gitbucket, but it doesn't work for private repositories.
There is a plugin, but it's outdated...
In Fess itself the cookies can be set, but they expire very soon.
