Is your feature request related to a problem?

FR: delete a FW serial on all places within a Panorama configuration

Describe the solution you'd like

type=device devicetype=manageddevice actions=displayreferences

is displaying all places where a serial# is configured within the configuration file.
delete all references and XML node entries.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Policy entries of Serial# can be right now done with:
type=rule ruletype=any actions=target-set-any location=any outputformatset=setcommands.txt

but this is only taking care of a specific part of a Panorama configuration file

Additional context

automate decommission a managed device serial#

Oh, count me in for this. I only use targets in Shared (and soon some DG Hierarchies), so I just run a target has filter and for the remove a target-remove.

I also have standalone DGs & Templates for each firewall or cluster - would this clean those up as well?

I actually have a cluster/DG/Template to decom right now if you'd like a test subject. I can hold onto it (I'm not in a rush as I have plenty of things to do).

Just following up - do you have a rough idea of when you might incorporate this FR?

I'm in no rush - I have a process now that's somewhat automated for targeted rules (Shared and DG Hierarchies) and manual for everything else.

Thanks!
