If you give Nera's ring to Bralum, the gnome leader, it is destroyed. If you instead just show it to him, you can keep it. I would say the gnome is not interested in the ring but only needs to know that Nera is dead. So you should also keep it when you give it to him. This can be easily fixed by removing the explicit "Interact"-event in the NPC event chain 5.
