Explore Acorn Grove and find your ingredients. Play some fairground minigames and meet the grove's inhabitants!

This is a game about a day in the life of a gnome living in Acorn Grove. A short but sweet game i made for the Cozy Autumn Game Jam 2022. It was made in GB Studio and it is the first real game i've managed to finish. It runs in browser and even on a real Game Boy Color. The rom file is in the downloads.

This game was so pure of heart and wholesome! The color pallet and art style is beautiful in its simplicity. It evokes the magic of educational adventure games from my childhood. <3

Absolut cute game!

This is so fun! I found a typo right after the target shooting game. It said "You cna do better!"

I suppose it's supposed to be "You can do better" :)

What a lovely game! And the ideas and map design is so clever. Loved it.

Your game is so cute. I love exploring the forest and talking to the different  creatures . Great jokes too!

Great Game, loved every moment. The art is amazing by the way. 10/10 Great game, even without the sound.

I loved playing this game. It was so charming and adorable. I loved the mini games too. I didn't miss the lack of music but I did wish there was flute noises for when you play the flute, but even then I enjoyed just making it up in my head!

Wonderful little game with some of the best pixel art I've seen in a Gameboy game! Loved it!

Finished playing through it last night. The atmosphere from the artwork is really enjoyable, you did a fantastic job!

With pixel art in modern day games, I've seen a lot of people make art that is really neat for GBC, but not necessarily practical for actually playing. I played this on an original, non-modded GBC and it was a great experience! Everything looked nice while still being very readable.

PS - the style to me feels like if Capcom never moved on to the GBA and instead made Minish Cap on the GBC

Thanks for the kind words, the minish cap and the capcom zeldas were a big inspiration.

I'm so glad it works well on an actual gameboy, i havent had the chance to test it! Did you write the game on a gbc cartridge? I'm interrested in getting some hardware to test stuff on the real hardware but i'm not sure how to go about it.

I used the EZ FLASH Jr.

You can load a ton of roms onto a micro SD card and then access them all on your GameBoy or GameBoy Color! In my opinion, this is the best option for testing your own games as well as playing games from other devs in the community.

Here is a GB Studio Central article that goes more in-depth on some options:

thanks a lot :)

It was very nice and cool to play this wonderful game. Sprites, backgrounds and narrative are top notch. Go on! Looking forward to new games!

This game is amazing! It really nails the retro vibe, and I played for a LONG time... One thing it could use is some sound, because it felt a little empty without it.

Thanks! I'd love to add some sound and music soon, still trying to get a grip of how it works.

This was such a great game! I played through the entire game and got a ton of Stardew Valley vibes. The art was great, especially of the animals, and I was really immersed in the game. You said this was the first real game you finished, but I'd definitely play a second game you made. Keep  up the great work!

Thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it. More games coming some time in the future :)

So charming and cozy! I loved the artwork. The big raccoon is incredibly cute. There was a bug with the shell and the raccoon being reset when you went to the next screen, so you couldn't backtrack the way you came. Otherwise, lovely <3

Thanks, glad you like it! The raccoon is being reset on purpose to guide the player south if they havent gone that way yet, but i guess it is a bit annoying haha.

awesome game! had a blast playing it! its cute and immersive yet challenging

in the fair at the crab path, the target shooting guy has a type in the word "Can" at the sense when you hit all 10 targets

also near the snail shell i had a bug which made me move left constantly as if the left arrow key was stuck

Thanks for letting me know, and glad you like it :)

Not sure what happened at the turtle shell, i'll have a look.

It's just brilliant. It doesn't bother me that it doesn't have music, because I can't find anything in it that I don't like, it's a masterpiece.

Thank you so much! That really means a lot :)
