Blick Art Materials on Instagram: "Did you know that linoleum and oil paintings share a key ingredient? It’s linseed oil! 🌱

💡Originally invented by Frederick Walton in 1860 as a durable floor covering, linoleum found a new life in the art world through relief printing.

The Die Brücke artists of early 20th-century Germany embraced linoleum for its effortless carving qualities. Unlike wood, which chips when carved against the grain, linoleum has no grain, making cuts smooth and clean. Perfect for achieving flat, crisp, unpatterned colors! 🌈

Linoleum comes in different varieties:
👉 Battleship Grey: Tough yet holds detailed designs.
👉 Golden Linoleum: Smooth and easy, ideal for intricate lines.
👉 EZ-Cut and Wonder Cut: For beginners, as easy as rubber stamping!

The Intrepid Chatelaine on Instagram: "The Best French Floor Care Hack from only 3 natural ingredients to get château-chic floors!🌱🛠️
This French traditional floor-care hack has certainly stood the test of time and is a great method to nourish and protect untreated wooden floors.
I was shocked at how expensive modern floor-care synthetic products are and for many square metres of oak parquet in our home @chateaudebourneau , we would require huge volumes and we didn’t want to spend 100s of euros so this method is great: It’s cheap, natural, anti-insect, easily topped up (so no scuffed varnish problems) and the result is beautiful. Plus, it smells wonderfully of fresh pine.
