3 Great Kindergarten Line Lessons

These are 3 favorite Kindergarten line lessons I've used over my 15 years teaching Kindergarten art:This Lesson packet has directions for 3 different Lessons:Lesson #13- D line Sculpture using Chenille Sticks/Pipe Cleaner to make 5 Different Kinds of Lines Sculpture. This is a great one day lesson.Lesson #2This Vertical and Horizontal line lesson is inspired by Piet Mondrian's painting called Broadway Boogie Woogie. We'll being with students looking at his painting and asking and discussing the enclosed Looking Questions. Then students will make their own picture using only horizontal and vertical lines. Lesson#3This lesson is the Kandinsky inspired curved line concentric circle lesson. Students will begin with Kandinsky's Concentric Circle painting and discuss the enclosed Looking Questions. There are a couple of options depending on where you think your students are in their fine motor abilities. The basic lesson is to make the concentric circles around dots. The more challenging option is to make the ripple lines around the letters of the alphabet. They can use the enclosed letters template or write their own.These lessons offer rich art experiences making 3-D sculpture, composing with lines, and practicing line control and choosing colors. Your little ones can have challenges and grow in their abilities and love of making.
