When the teen T&A comedy Porky’s scored at the box office in the spring of 1982, Hollywood quickly realized there was an audience — largely male, teenage, and horny as hell — itching to see guys as clueless as they were willing to humiliate themselves in the quest to get laid. Most of these knockoffs were god-awful. But a few, like the three in a new MGM ’80s box set, added heart to the hormonal high jinks.

The Sure Thing (1985, PG-13, 1 hr., 35 mins.) With his brooding-loner act and lightning one-liners, John Cusack was the Bogart of the genre. Here he plays Walter ”Gib? Gibson, a college freshman who travels cross-country to hook up with Nicollette Sheridan. Rob Reiner’s Spinal Tap follow-up is surprisingly deep for a flick that rests on the same shelf as Hardbodies and My Tutor. But as Gib would say, ”What the hell’s wrong with being stupid once in a while?? B+
