Set of 2 chunky dining table pedestals in our "Coastal Captivation" design. These make an extremely sturdy trestle table base for your table project. Available in a large selection of hardwoods and softwoods! Our products are made from premium lumber sourced locally in Georgia, United States. These pedestals are a little over 9" wide at their widest points. The foot is 33" long and the top support board is 30" long. Height can be selected at checkout. Recommended assembly: We recommend pre-drilling 2 holes down through the top of the top board using a forstner bit (Just enough to sink a bolt head with washers). Then pre-drill 2 up through the bottom of the foot going up into the pedestal upright (These should be drilled about 3" deep). Next, measure and line the pedestals up and clamp them firmly. Use 4" lag bolts with a flat washer and locking washer and drive them down into the pedestal using an impact drill with a socket attachment. Repeat through the bottom of the foot using 6" lag bolts. For additional strength, apply wood glue between joints before clamping and bolting. What to expect with each finish: Unsanded: The pedestals will show bandsaw marks. This suits someone who wants to save money and sand them on their own. It also works well for a more rustic finish if you decide to leave the bandsaw blade marks and stain or wax them as is. Excess glue runoff will be sanded and cleaned up. Sanded to paint: Bandsaw blade marks will be cleaned up using 100 grit sandpaper. Sanded to stain: Bandsaw blade marks will be cleaned up using 100 grit sandpaper, then they will be sanded with a 220 grit sandpaper. Why is using our pedestals for your table a good idea?
