Spiraea japonica, 'Golden Elf' Japanese Spirea 'Golden Elf' is a dwarf, golden-leaved, spirea growing to only 6-9" tall and to 24" wide. Deciduous with beautiful gold color into the fall. Tiny pink flowers in small clusters. Blooms from May to July. Small accent for front of a border, low ground cover, good for edging paths or walkways and foundation plantings. Spireas are, as a group, easy care shrubs tolerating a variety of conditions including clay soil. Hardy from Zone 4 to 8.
