Sophia Keys on Instagram: "We don’t talk about gold luster ERASERS as much as we should- they are a total life saver!

The thing about gold luster is, even though I thought I cleaned off this smudge well enough… clearly the kiln thought differently.

A gold luster eraser though will save the day, although not without a little effort.
Definitely don’t like to count on them because they’re like a whole work out. But in a pinch they’re perfect!

Mist Ceramics on Instagram: "Made a few porcelain Christmas trees with gold luster detail. It’s officially gold luster season because so many of my Holiday items require a bit of sparkle. Glad i have access to luster firing now and no time is lost between items getting g their shine and getting their glitter. That, and some of my favorite glazes make this holiday season production really special. Simply love using Shino and Celadon glazes for unpredictable and stunning results.

Rooted Ceramics on Instagram: "The making of this “immediately no” gold frame planter from start to finish!

I didn’t manage to record EVERY step of the process, but I did catch most of it! Here is a breakdown of each and every step:

•wedge clay
•throw form
•allow to dry
•trim
•stamp
•sculpt frame
•allow to dry
•transport to kiln
•bisque fire
•wash, stamp, + wax
•glaze
•glaze fire
•prep surface with alcohol
•apply gold luster to letters + frame
•apply mother of pearl luster everywhere else
•luster firing
Annnnnnd I think that’s it! No biggie 😉

I can’t wait to see where this big mama winds up, and what plant gets to call her home 🪴" Wedge Clay, Big Mama, Gold Flecks, Call Her, Gold Trim, Gold Frame, Mother Of Pearl, The Process, Wax
