Phil Rudd's Gear
Usage
In the live performance of "T.N.T." at River Plate in December 2009, Phil Rudd uses a Sonor Designer Set in Solid Black, featuring a 13x13 tom, 16x16 and 18x18 floor toms, and a 22x18 bass drum. During the Ballbreaker era, he utilized the same sizes in Stainer Red.
According to Paiste's website, Phil Rudd uses Paiste 2002 14" Medium Hi Hats.
Phil teamed up with Sonor to create his signature snare back in 2009. He uses it during the Live at River Plate performance, as well as on his solo career. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9EE84Cd7-to In the video I linked, you can stop at the 0:59 mark and see that Phil uses a sliver in colour snare, which is his signature one.
At 0:24 in this ACDC live performance video, Phil Rudd can be seen using Easton AHEAD drumsticks.
Phil Rudd can be seen using those hi hats in any of the River Plate shows, and the Black Ice World Tour. https://youtu.be/gEPmA3USJdI In the Highway to Hell video I linked, at the time stamp 1:53, pause and you can see the hi hats that Phil uses are sound formula.
The overheads were Neumann 87 or 47, and on the hi?hat I used a Neumann KM84, which gives a nice crisp sound, but also has enough body in it.

He uses a double-end Stick for his Snare hand, which is especially made for him ;)
I had two Shure SM57s on the snare, top and bottom, and on the toms I had an SM57 on the top and a Sennheiser 421 underneath. You have to be really careful in positioning these mics; the top gives more attack and the bottom will pick up a more round tonal quality.

According to Mike Fraser, mix engineer, Rudd used this mic for the overhead.
