Description
Step into the golden era of rock and roll with the Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbucker pickup set. Crafted in conjunction with the original humbucker inventor, Seth Lover himself, this pickup set encapsulates the vintage tonal wealth of the 1950s. The SH-55 set is not wax potted, allowing the full, raw sonic character to shine through just like the original PAF humbuckers in Seth Lover's Gibson Les Paul.
Experience the warm, articulate tone that defined the sound of the 50s. The SH-55 pickups are wound on Seymour Duncan's original 1950s Leesona coil winder, using 42AWG plain enamel wire and Alnico 2 bar magnets. This unique combination produces a clear tone with rich harmonics and a musical "honk" from the unpotted coils.
The Seymour Duncan Seth Lover set is meticulously crafted for vintage accuracy, capturing the very essence of the revered PAF tone. The bridge pickup delivers an open, airy tone, perfect for chords and leads, while the neck pickup sings with a smooth, melodious quality for solos and clean tones.
Despite its vintage design, the SH-55 set is versatile, effortlessly handling a wide range of musical styles. From classic rock and blues to jazz and country, this pickup set adds character to your sound with its medium output and microphonic honk, delivering rich distortion without muddiness.

Excellent for vintage tones
Put these in my Gretsch G2210, which had cheap and muddy pickups. Bought a set of these Seth Lover PAFs, and man did they kick the guitar up a few notches. Getting the old kind of Led Zeppelin vintage hard rock tones have never been this easy. Sound very well clean.
They're a bit microphonic, and will feedback when you are using a lot of fuzz and/or distortion and playing at loud volumes. That doesn't really bother me as I use the guitar for stoner rock/doom metal/noise rock anyways.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Neck pickups is thicc af and sounds so good.

Best Pick Ups
These are some of the best humbuckers I'd heard you really notice the clarity and articulation when playing excellent dynamics and over all "Piano like tone" especially on clean guitar parts.

the original PAF formula as specified by lover is great evne though very few old PAFs actually got made to spec LOL
Artist usage
Add artistAt 1:58 in this video, Alex Rosamilia says he replaced his SG pickup with a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover.
"As far as pickups I use Seymour Duncan. The pickups vary from guitar to guitar but usually consist of either Seth Lover, Custom Custom, or P.A.F style humbuckers. If I am using a guitar that has a tremolo then chances are that I will have my own model Trembucker (PA-TB3B) in it. The whole concept behind the PA-TB3B was to make up for what the guitar naturally loses when you route out the body and add a tremolo. Most guitars take on a thinner more anemic quality once they are routed out, so having a pickup that helps compensate for that is a huge benefit. In general, I tend to favor lower output pickups and let the amps and pedals do the work."
"The guitar has a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover in the neck position and Duncan Hot Rails at the bridge. I built it in 2006, I believe.” Mike ran straight into a Richard Goodsell Black Dog 50 connected to a ’80s Marshall 4x10 1965A cabinet."
“The Seymour Duncan pickups I use in Skindred allow otherwise stock guitars to cope with drop tunings, heavy riffs and such. I’m constantly on the quest to improve my tone, and I’m learning that I prefer the sound of ceramic bar magnets and overwound coils for tight low end and shredding, and chunky mids. Adversely, I also had Seymour Duncan Seth Lover and Pearly Gates humbuckers in other guitars I used for standard tunings and more straightforward rock n’ roll, and they are amongst the sweetest sounds out there if you’re looking for lower to medium gain tones. What’s coolest about using SD versus stock pickups is that most Seymours are 4-conductor wired for endless tonal versatility and variety.”
"Nathan: In my Jazz Basses, I have the SJB-1 Vintage set and in my P-Bass I have the SPB-1 Vintage. In my guitars I have a custom set of Seth Lovers in a Firebird clone, a set of Antiquity Humbuckers in a ’81 Gibson 335, a SJM-3 Quarter-Pound for Jazzmaster, and Phat Cats in another Firebird clone! Love ’em!!"
