editFrom Proto-Finnic *toomi, from Proto-Uralic *ďëme. Cognates include Estonian toom, toomingas, Northern Sami duobma, Erzya лём (ľom), Komi-Zyrian льӧм (ľöm) and Northern Mansi ля̄м (lâ̄m).[1]
