Phono-semantic matching instead of ateji?
edit@Ydaraishy I edited the etymology that you wrote by saying that the word is a phono-semantic matching instead of ateji. It's for two reasons: (1) it is a more accurate description, and (2) I think it's better to avoid using Japanese linguistic terminology when writing about Korean linguistics. I had a discussion with Fish bowl which explains why I think (1) is true. See wikt:en:Special:Permalink/79472716.
I would appreciate it if you could confirm that the hanja spelling 兒孩 was only used after the Middle Korean reading ᅀᆞ (zò) for 兒 changed to 아. FunnyMath (talk) 19:12, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
