- (taxonomy, obsolete) Formerly, the largest taxonomic group of fungi within the phylum Basidiomycota.
Usage notes
edit- Eventually found to be polyphyletic (i.e., better understood as several groups), it grouped together basidiomycetes with fruiting bodies whose hymenophore develops in an exposed manner, or with only a velum (veil).
