Halderberge
English
editEtymology
editBorrowed from Dutch Halderberge.
Proper noun
editHalderberge
- A municipality of North Brabant, Netherlands.
Dutch
editEtymology
editPotentially derived from a compound of haar (“sandy ridge”) and lo (“light forest”) and berg (“hill, elevated place”). An alternative hypothesis posits a derivation from Proto-Germanic *halu- (“sloping”) and berg. The name was chosen by vote by local history organisations from the municipalities which fused to form the new municipality.
