German
Etymology
Probably cognate to German Schusser (“clacker, bullet; wound”), as if by surface analysis, Schuss (“shot”) + -el, literally one who is shot, amorous verschossen (“have a crush; mis a shot”). Maybe related to schudeln, compare hudeln. Older dictionaries gloss this specifically feminine, mismatching the supposed derivation which requires neuter gender, matching Ripuarian neuter inflection on females and the pronounciation of e.g. puzzle.
