Copy vio
I listed this page as a copyvio from the All Music Guide. The AMG Terms of Service specifically states
- You may not, for example, republish any portion of the Material on any Internet, Intranet or extranet site or incorporate the Material in any database, compilation, archive or cache.
Assuming we create a real article here (which would be reasonable, given that Train is a fairly well-known band), we may link to AMG, but we may not republish their text without written permission. --AHM 21:51, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
New Stub Created
A new non-plagurized article has been posted. Please replace this article with the temporary one that has been posted.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_%28band%29/Temp
- I disagree that the /Temp article is not plagiarism, as it still uses sentences pulled directly from AllMusic (without citation no less), but I appreciate your attempt to rectify the copyvio situation. I've rewritten the stub, adding lists of band member and discography info, as well as a sentence about their two most successful songs. If this article is going to be anything more than a stub, someone with more knowledge of the band's history and style needs to contribute. --AHM 21:31, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Hey
I have added an infox with a promo photo, I have also added a singles list that has all the singles and year of release. If anyone could help with adding peak billboard positions to the singles, that would be great.
Post-Rock?
Can Train be considered post-rock? I'm adding it to the infobox because everything I've read about post-rock seems to put them in that genre, but if someone disagrees feel free to remove it.
- From the Post-rock page:
- "Post-rock is a music genre characterized by nontraditional use of instruments and high musical density".
- Train uses instruments pretty darn traditionally. Some Post-rock acts are Sigur Rós and Godspeed You! Black Emperor as a comparison. Since you've given permission to remove the classification if someone saw fit, I have done just that. --Dkordik 11:37, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- wtf is post rock? what is that shit there is no fucking post rock in my eyes. rock is rock it can never be post....now sub genres in my opinion can be post but not a solid main genre like that.......sry for being so brash but i hate that...........and may i please put pop rock in...............a pop band sounds so dumb.....please....im gonna change it if you have a problem change it back. --76.113.62.128 (talk) 21:57, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Patrick hitting on Spears
I'm going to re-add the joke. I've found a source : http://www.livedaily.com/reviews/Live_Review_Train_at_the_Celebrity_Theatre_in_Phoenix-6741.html Gaijin42 13:17, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Repetition in the History section
There are several sentences that repeat information. Specifically, Drops of Jupiter is mentioned as being a hit on the Billboard list twice in subsequent paragraphs. Later For Me, It's You is mentioned as their fourth studio album twice in subsequent paragraphs.
Unless anyone has any objections in the next couple of days, I'd like to tighten this up. --Javafreek 19:14, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

A New Page for Train Discography?
The Train discography, being on the main Train page, is making the page a little long. I think we should make a seperate page for Train's discography. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mackerni888 (talk • contribs) 00:45, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Train lead singer Pat Monahan in CSI NY
On Dec. 12, 2009 Pat Monahan was featured in an episode of CSI NY where he played a recovering addict who was almost murdered. Kim Kardashian and Vanessa Minnillo are also featured as the "bad girls." Go figure. Monahan sings Train's hit, "Hey, Soul Sister" and "Calling All Angels." Primary genre: pop rock or roots rock?
I'm seeing some conflict over what is the main genre of the band. Can someone provide articles that support pop rock vs. roots rock? -AngusWOOF (talk) 18:10, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Band Members
For years, Jerry Becker Hector Maldonado have been unofficial/touring/recording members, and they've been cited as such on the band's Wikipedia page. I see that as of this year, they're listed as official members, along with the new drummer. However, I don't see any citation verifying this, and when I Google for information verifying it, nothing is coming up. If this promotion is true for Jerry, Hector, and the new drummer, it should be noted on the band's Wikipeds page since adding three official members is pretty significant. The source should also be cited. In the meantime, I question that these guys are anything but the unoffical/touring members they have been for years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.179.36.8 (talk) 04:18, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- This probably needs to be verified with their album release, but as for now their official page shows seven band members on their main graphic including the backup singers, although interviews usually have just Pat and Jimmy participate. -AngusWOOF (talk) 06:45, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Here's an article that shows the three are band members [1] and this one [2] quote: "The band is still evolving," Stafford said. "Sure, we miss some of the guys who've left, but Train has grown with the new members. It was never same-old, same-old with the original five, and these guys, some of them with us for five years already, bring even more new styles and flavors." -AngusWOOF (talk) 18:06, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- Bonfiglio's latest article [3] names Smith and Houston as members who do the backing vocals. They were also shown on the cover shot for the website. Whether they are full members is still unconfirmed as that article names them from its coverage of the concert. Will need more news articles. -AngusWOOF (talk) 15:49, 17 July 2014 (UTC) updated 18:43, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
- Smith and Houston also appear in the "Angel in Blue Jeans" music video, and in every Train music video (except for "When I look to the Sky") all the members appear. They also appeared in the last television and radio performances (for example, The Howard Stern Show and The Today Show). Finally the Pat Monahan's Patcast podcast episode number 50 was dedicated to Train and all the band was interviewed by the lead singer, also Smith and Houston. --Giovannil713 ΦιλελλήνικοςDic me! 08:15, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! Here's the pat cast link [4] -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:18, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'd like to highlight the fact that in the Patcast episode Monahan states that the band members are 7. So I think we should include in the band as current members also Smith and Houston and not consider them only touring members. --Giovannil713 ΦιλελλήνικοςDic me! 16:04, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks,
if you can time stamp where he says that on the patcast and the quote then that would be our source along with the news articles. Also, it looks like Hector updated his membership status recently to not distinguish his touring with full member status. -AngusWOOF (talk) 16:20, 24 July 2014 (UTC) - Added Patcast episode 50. -AngusWOOF (talk) 20:11, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- The Facebook page of the band says Houston and Smith are not official members. On the other hand, the Patcast, the official photos (like the one on savemesanfrancisco.com and the one on the iHeart Radio Festival page of lineup) and the tv and radio performances (the Howard Stern Show, the Today Show and the Jimmy Kimmel Show) doesn't day that. I think we should wait the release of the album to see if the two women are considered official members or are listed in the collaborations. --Giovannil713 ΦιλελλήνικοςDic me! 20:20, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Merge in Jimmy Stafford?
A user has (re)created an article for Jimmy Stafford. I don't see any notability for him outside of the band. Is there any reason this content should not be merged here, with the Jimmy Stafford link turned into a redirect? That's how it was for the last four years; I want to make sure that's still what consensus is. —C.Fred (talk) 14:52, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
- I've restored the redirect and requested full protection; article was unreferenced, and no indicator of notability outside of the band. Snuggums (talk / edits) 23:46, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
Band members articles
Outside of Pat, the other band members have been redirected into this article per the PROD results back in 2014. Please discuss here if you think any of the musicians need their own page, and list the secondary reliable sources that are independent of the subject to support your case.
