Matthias Politycki

Matthias Politycki (born 1955) is a German author.[1] He was born in Karlsruhe, and studied in Munich and Vienna. He obtained a PhD in German literature in 1987. His first novel Aus Fälle/Zerlegung des Regenbogens appeared that same year. Other books include Weiberroman (1997), Ein Mann von vierzig Jahren (2000) and Herr der Hörner (2005). One of his best known novels Samarkand, Samarkand (2013) is set in Central Asia.[2] Another novel titled Jenseitsnovelle was published by Peirene Press, in an English translation by Anthea Bell.[3]

Politycki is also known as a travel writer and poet. His collected poems were published by Hoffman und Campe in 2018.[4] He has won numerous awards including the Ernst-Hoferichter-Preis in 2009.
