Reg Dawson is the former husband of Viv Hope and father of Scott Windsor. He first appeared on 24 May 1994.

Reg, who abandoned Scott and Viv early in Scott's life, arrives in Emmerdale when he starts a siege on Home Farm. He kills one of his henchmen and Shirley Turner, who died after receiving a bullet intended for Viv. Reg is shot dead by police marksmen. In his will, he leaves Viv several thousand pounds, but a stipulation said she had to leave her current husband, Vic Windsor, to receive the money. She declines and stays with Vic.

Benedict Alan "Ben" Dingle is the son of Zak Dingle. He appeared in 1994.

Ben is the first member of the Dingle family to appear in Emmerdale. During a fight with Luke McAllister he dies of a heart defect. It originally appears as if Luke had murdered him, and the Dingles continue to blame him even after the truth comes out.
