During the [[21 July 2005 London bombings]], a number 26 bus was targeted by [[Muktar Said Ibrahim]], who attempted to explode a device while the bus was on [[Hackney Road]] from Waterloo, near the corner of [[Columbia Road]] in [[Bethnal Green]].
