Blackburn was born in [[Bristol]],
Blackburn has an extensive career as a theatrical performer; in 1999 his performance as Vladimir in ''[[Waiting for Godot]]'' earned him the Best Actor award at the [[Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards]].
