Plot

The game begins shortly after the events of Assassin's Creed II, in the year 1499. Monteriggioni is besieged by the Borgia clan, led by Rodrigo's son Cesare Borgia. During the battle Ezio's uncle, Mario, is killed and the Apple of Eden is taken by Borgia. Ezio, now a Master Assassin in the Assassin's Order, seeks revenge and heads to Rome to take the fight to the Templar Order.

Gameplay

According to Ubisoft, the game is going to offer over 15 hours of single-player gameplay set in the city of Rome. Ezio will be able to recruit and train young Assassins that can be deployed across the city of Rome, or can be called upon to aid him in his quests. Players now will be able to upgrade the whole city of Rome. It is compared to the upgrading system in Assassin's Creed II.[5] Also in the quests, Ezio will meet old and new friends, real historical characters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolò Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza with whom he can collaborate, and also by helping out citizens of Rome and convincing them to join the cause will unlock extra factions and missions.Old weapons and devices from previous games will carry over, such as hidden blades, and an advanced Da Vinci's flying machine. There are some new weapons and gadgets in player's disposal that is introduced such as syringe, poison darts, crossbow, claw, blade fan, dagger, parachute and switchblade that was shown in the game teaser. It has been confirmed by the creative director that Ezio's new nemesis will be Cesare Borgia, the son of Rodrigo Borgia.[citation needed]

New weapons will be introduced. Two of these new weapons were revealed in teaser content for the game, a bladed fan and switch blade (version of the hidden blade). A syringe is also presented in the teaser trailer, which extrapolates on a hollowed out version of the hidden blade used for delivering poison in Assassin's Creed II.

Controlling the Assassins

Now that Ezio is a master assassin he practically has control of the assassin order during the Renaissance. During the game you will have the option to send assassins to certain areas in the world to complete tasks. You will have the ability to send a group to Spain, Germany, England, and other countries to complete an assassination. You can have the ability to train young assassins and have them do jobs for you.

Multiplayer

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is the first Assassin's Creed game to feature a multiplayer mode. The players are Templars in training at the Abstergo facility. They use the animus to train by stalking and killing one another. If the game is pre-ordered at gamestop.com, an extra character called "the Harlequin" will be available to play as. One of the multiplayer game modes has been announced in the July edition of Playstation magazine. This mode is called "Wanted". Six to eight players are dropped on a map, not too small, not too big, where they stalk and kill each other. Each player is given a target, who is another player. Your goal is to find and kill your target without being seen or killed by your own predator. If you break cover, your target sees you and will run away, starting a chase sequence. They will try to hide from you, you have to catch them and kill them. Aside from the characters and the "Wanted" game mode, a few more specifics have been revealed: seven characters have been confirmed (Courtesan, Hunter, Barber, Priest, Banker, Executioner, and Doctor) and two special characters, the "Harlequin" available with a pre-order at gamestop, and the "Officer", available with the "Special Edition" of the game, as seen on game.co.uk. It is confirmed that the multiplayer experience can be accessed through Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and also Games For Windows - LIVE. Also, it is confirmed that a beta will be released exclusively for Playstation 3 on September 23rd.

E3 2010

In Ubisoft's E3 2010 press conference, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood was shown with a 5-minute trailer and gameplay. From the gameplay, it has been proved by Ubisoft that the game engine has changed. The players will be able to mount horses inside the city and features cannon shooting gameplay. The fighting mechanism has changed and the combat has been improved, and there are now some new moves for Ezio such as throwing an axe into an enemy's body.

Physics and Effects

Ubisoft has stated that the graphics will be improved upon, as well as several physics in the game. Ragdolls will fall much more realistically due to the new, edited "Havok" engine. In the other games, ragdolls sometimes would combust when hitting the floor after being thrown off a building. In Assassin’s Creed II, Some PC players have stated that ragdolls such as the "Borgia Messenger" are more likely to fall unrealistically, due to their capes that 'clip' through their bodies. In some instances, ragdolls would have fallen with their arms clipping through their backs and legs. These certain instances mostly happen if Ezio picks up a body and throws it back on the ground, although it could happen anytime.

Creative Director

Patrice Désilets, who is credited as creative director on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, both Assassin's Creed titles and a handful of other Ubisoft Montreal projects, has left the company for a "creative break from the industry," which Ubisoft confirmed on June 13, 2010. The publisher explained to Game Informer that Désilets' role as creative lead on Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is "essentially done," and that he's no longer involved with the completion of the game.
